Set about 5 years in the old comic continuities future, in a more peaceful time. Tails is set at 18, while Amy is about 23. What do you think of Amy's new hairdo?
Story: It's Tails' 18th birthday, and while his friends threw him a party that would be remembered for years to come, it was bittersweet as he was also recovering from a difficult break up with his girlfriend of the past few years, Ayako Kitsune. Taking some time alone to reflect on things, he is greeted by his long time friend and comrade in arms, Amy Rose. Knowing about Tails' recent romantic troubles, Amy sought to check up on him and offer comfort if needed. Tails thanked her and told her she could count on him for the same if she needed. He knew things hadn't been the same for Amy since Sonic and Sally married. As they talked, they agreed that love had been elusive for them both, but Amy assured Tails that one day, love would find them both.
Then as Amy took Tails' hand and they looked each other in the eyes, something sparked between them. It was a feeling that neither could describe, but in that instance, they realized that the love they were searching for was right under their noses the whole time in each other. The passion that followed that moment would change both their lives forever.

I like the concept for this. I was big on Archie Sonic during my youth and it wasn't long before I shipped Tails and Amy. It seemed to make sense at the time, given Sonic and Sally being stable at the time and Archieverse Amy thankfully not being like her other incarnations and actually accepting Sonic ending up with someone who isn't her. And it seemed like there were shipteases here and there before the transition to the story post-Adventure (and even then there was still a short story starring those two). Which is why I was greatly annoyed that they paired Tails with Mina of all people in all their future stories. I honestly don't remember a single time those two interacted one-on-one, and I liked Mina with Ash; why break that up? I kinda found it fishy how Amy was never shown via herself or any offspring of hers during those stories... Archie Sonic is literally the best chance for Tails/Amy to actually happen, then they go and do that. :\ I like your story way better.
